Here are some sketches done at the end of October, for your viewing pleasure. I will apologize for my long absence, but I have been sewing my fingers down to the bone, quite literally. In the next couple of weeks I will be posting updates of my progress on 17 costumes for the Philadelphia Skating Club and Humane Society's competition production of Where the Wild Things are.

Enjoy!

Gazella Steampunk Fashions

Here are a few in-progress photos of the wardrobe I'm putting together for my steampunk photo shoot on the Gazella Ship with RA Friedman, and a few details on what I did as far as alterations or hand sewing.

1. Blue silk, short-sleeve blouse with embroidery.
Alterations: Lace added, hand-sewn to the sleeves and neckline.
Styling: Corset and Blazer. Collar will be starched.
Military buttons will be added to the cuffs of the pants.

Bonus Photo: Half-finished outfit:
Alterations: Hand-dyed skirt, hand-made bustle (brown fabric)
Styling: Canvas corset with added leather and buttons (not pictured), white blouse, lace petticoats, hand-decorated hat.

Hats: Plain black hats, embellished with feathers, cloth, buttons and clock parts.
1. Small headcap with netting:

2. Black wool hat with brim:
additions: will have (hopefully) working antique lightbulb hanging on a stem over the brim.
