Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 06:34PM So my nice, second-hand Singer (3343c) just petered out and decided to temporarily die, just as I was making some headway on some swimsuit designs. I'm annoyed. HOWEVER, I do have some extra money in the bank account, and Joanne Fabrics has a mini sale on a fantastic machine.

The Singer® Heavy Duty-110 10 Stitch Sewing Machine is gorgeous, hefty, and I've heard from a few people that they love it and have never had trouble with it. I'm drooling. The question is, order it now... or order it after I get back from the Gaian Mind Summer Festival? The next question is... do I get my 3343c tuned up and fixed, or do I mess with it myself and learn the inner workings of a Singer Machine? Hmmm... something to ponder. If you have any feedback, please comment! If you have one of these machines, I'd love to hear your point of view.
Monday, June 30, 2008 at 12:50PM I've got a bunch of left over fabric from an altered skirt, and so I'm mocking up a few doll skirts...
I'm thinking that the one with the thinner ribbon will just be sold 'as-is' since it's not very good. Maybe $10?
The other one is well on it's way to looking pretty damn cool. I still need to finish edges and clean it up.
Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 06:24PM I finally have a dress form! It's a bit rickety, and it's second-hand, but I'm all about that. It's JUST what I need!
See that dress? My first. yep yep! Made out of three very soft, second-hand teeshirts. I. Am. Awesome.
This is what I was thinking of doing to the collar, but I figured it was too intensive for a first dress. So I went simple. It needs a tank-top/cami underneath, but that's ok. Layering is in.
