My friend Lynne came to me with a very ambitious, specific and symbolic vision for her dress. Working with our mutual friend, and talented Corsetier Bridgett Farrell we created a multi-layered, completely custom, one-of-a-kind creation, made to fit her curves perfectly. We started with a black silk gauze fishtail slip, pleated and tiered at the ankle to flare out, then a pale cream silk gauze petticoat made with several layers, also flared. A matching sleeveless blouse with a high gathered-collar, and tied with a black bow gave her the option to cover more or less skin as the evening wore on. Bridgett, living in North Carolina wasn't able to make it to our fittings in Brooklyn, but nonetheless, she and I put our heads together and came up with a perfectly complementary corset and over-skirt ensemble. Matching white satin, trimmed with black. A cropped ivory satin shrug was a nice option for just a little more warmth that night. As if she needed it! '
